A pedestrian crossing a street was struck by a car, and an officer responding to the accident was also struck by another car at N. Water St., early Sunday morning.
According to Police Capt. Terrence Gordon, the 25-year-old man was struck by a car driven by a 25-year-old Milwaukee woman at around 2 a.m. near E. Juneau Avenue. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital for critical injuries, police reported. Meanwhile, a traffic officer on the scene of the accident was injured after a car struck his vehicle while performing traffic control. The pickup which slammed into the patrol car was driven by a 22-year-old West Allis man who was later found to be intoxicated after a blood-alcohol test, according to police. The officer suffered bruises and hand pain after the incident.
