Possible Equipment Failure in Diver’s Death

Posted under Waukesha personal injury attorneys

An experienced scuba diver died as five other divers noticed his disappearance after exploring the icy Nagawicka Lake this past Saturday morning.

32-year-old Steven LaLonde was noticed missing by one of the divers in his group after they returned to land. “He was an accomplished diver, we do know he had a lot of experience. The divers that were here all know each other,” Delafield City Lieutenant Robert Hagan said. Equipment failure was most likely responsible for LaLonde’s death, according to police. Later on, the group was able to pull LaLonde out of the water. Lake County Fire Chief Jack Edwards said LaLonde apparently became disconnected from the ropes and didn’t know how long he was missing before he was found by his co-divers.

LaLonde later died after he was brought to the hospital in critical condition. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this time.
