The annual report regarding car accidents involving deer in the United States was released by State Farm Insurance, and it ranked Wisconsin as seventh for deer-car accidents in the country.
State Farm considers claims data and the number of licensed drivers in each state in order to determine which states have the highest likelihood of deer-car collisions. West Virginia topped the list again this year, making it the sixth year in a row to be ranked at the top. This is the second year in a row for Wisconsin to be ranked seventh, bu the chances of striking a deer are higher this time around.
Last year, the odds of a licensed driver hitting a deer with their vehicle were one in 88. This year, State Farm determined that the odds were one in 79 for drivers in the state of Wisconsin. Accidents involving deer can be catastrophic, and can result in serious injuries or even fatalities. Vehicles can be totaled in these accidents, and can cost thousands of dollars to repair.
