Brake pedal defect prompts Kia to issue national recall

Posted under auto defect attorneys

The brake pedal in the 2009 Kia Borrego has been pronounced as defective. A recall of 21,900 Borrego SUVs has been issued by Kia.

According to the NHTSA, the mount for the brake pedal is not sturdy in this model, and can cause the car to slide forward, and not come to a proper stop. This is the second recall that was announced by Kia in a two-day time span. The first recall involved the Kia Rio models and faulty airbags.

The airbag sensor system in the front passenger seat of the Rio models that were produced between 2006 and 2008 did not properly detect small children. These airbags are not meant to inflate during an accident if a child is in the front, but without proper detection the airbags can inflate causing harm to the child.
