Police officer injured in Collinsville crash

Posted under Uncategorized

A Wednesday evening crash involving four vehicles resulted in minor injuries for a Collinsville police officer.

51-year-old Bruce A. Steele struck Officer Michael G. Brown's squad car as he was responding to a call. Brown made use of his car's emergency lights and siren to warn drivers on the road as he was driving northbound on Keebler Avenue through the intersection at Belt Line Road. Despite the warning, Steele attempted to turn right onto Keebler, resulting in the collision. The crash caused Brown's squad car to hit a vehicle in the southbound lane of the road, which then backed into the fourth vehicle that was involved.

According to area police, Brown was taken to Anderson Hospital in Maryville to be treated for minor injuries. Everyone else who was involved in the incident escaped with no injuries. Steele was ticketed in the four-vehicle crash.
