Two Mukwonago residents were killed in a Waukesha auto
accident
 Monday.

According to officials with the Wisconsin State Police, 86
year-old Irene K. Lehnen and 86 year-old Robert J. Chapman were killed in a
three-vehicle accident. The crash occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. Monday in
the intersection of Highways 20 and ES. Both victims were in the same car.
Chapman was in the front seat and Lehnen was in the back seat.

According to the police accident report, the accident likely
was caused when the car in which Lehnen and Chapman were passengers made an
illegal turn. Their vehicle moved into the path of an oncoming car and the two
vehicles collided. A pickup truck that was stopped at the intersection was
damaged when one of the vehicles smashed into it, police say.

Lehnen was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Chapman was transported by ground ambulance to Waukesha Memorial Hospital,
where he was later pronounced dead.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and
friends during this difficult time.
