Geneva Business Owner Named in DUI Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Posted under Uncategorized

An Illinois business owner has been named in a wrongful death lawsuit steming from a drunken driving crash that killed a distant relative.

According to Kane County Court documents, Richard E. Campbell filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Earl G. Wilkison last week. Campbell filed the lawsuit on behalf of his son Ryan. The 24 year-old was killed in a car crash on October 11, 2008.

The lawsuit accuses the 59 year-old owner of EcoWater Systems of being negligent and impaired when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Route 47 and Beith Road, broadsiding Ryan Campbell's pickup truck. Campbell's father is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for his son's next-of-kin: his mother, two sisters, and a brother.

In January, Wilison pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence. He was sentenced to four years of probation and 12 months in a jail-release program.

Wilkison could not be reached for a comment on the wrongful death lawsuit. The case is due in court December 16.
