A bicyclist was struck by a Waukesha police squad car Tuesday night.
According to officials with the Wisconsin State Patrol, an officer with the Waukesha Police Department was responding to a call when he struck 17 year-old Travis Weber as he was crossing the southbound lanes on Highway 164 near Arcadian shortly after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Matt Simpson, a friend of Weber's, said they were leaving Skateland minutes before the accident happened. "I look over my shoulder as I'm on the phone, look over, I see headlights, look back over the other way to see where Travis is…" Simpson said. "I see him light up with headlights and he just gets slammed by a cop car. He goes flying, his bike goes flying."
The officer administered CPR until the Waukesha Fire Department arrived. The injured teen was transported by helicopter to Milwaukee Children's Hospital. The nature of the Weber's injuries is not known, he is expected to fully recover.
