Study reveals women more likely to be injured in car accidents
Posted on Monday, October 24th, 2011 at 5:28 pm
Women drivers wearing seat belts that are involved in car accidents are 47 percent more likely to be seriously injured than men. In a study published by the American Journal of Public Health, the reason for this bias may be due to safety features.
Safety features of motor vehicles are built with the average male body type in mind. This realization can account for numerous injuries women suffer in car accidents. An example includes the placement of head restraints in the vehicle. The restraints are positioned for the average male. Women’s necks are different in height and strength which result in serious head injuries.
The smaller build of women also create risks for lower body injuries. Researchers suggest that vehicles adapt their safety designs towards women so that there could be a decrease in female harm.

Police officer injured in Collinsville crash
Posted on Friday, September 9th, 2011 at 2:16 am
A Wednesday evening crash involving four vehicles resulted in minor injuries for a Collinsville police officer.
51-year-old Bruce A. Steele struck Officer Michael G. Brown's squad car as he was responding to a call. Brown made use of his car's emergency lights and siren to warn drivers on the road as he was driving northbound on Keebler Avenue through the intersection at Belt Line Road. Despite the warning, Steele attempted to turn right onto Keebler, resulting in the collision. The crash caused Brown's squad car to hit a vehicle in the southbound lane of the road, which then backed into the fourth vehicle that was involved.
According to area police, Brown was taken to Anderson Hospital in Maryville to be treated for minor injuries. Everyone else who was involved in the incident escaped with no injuries. Steele was ticketed in the four-vehicle crash.

9-year-old boy attacked by pit bull
Posted on Monday, August 22nd, 2011 at 5:16 am
A 9-year-old Madison boy sustained non-life threatening injuries when he was attacked by a pit bull last week. The boy was playing at a friend's house when the pit bull, who was owned by the friend's mother, attacked him. The mother was also bit when she tried to intervene.
This dog attack is not the first in the area. A 52-year-old woman living in an east Waukesha neighborhood was mauled by a dog in late June. A neighbor who came to help the woman was also injured in the attack. Due to his heroic actions, the neighbor is being honored with the Citizens Service Award.
Now, a Waukesha woman is trying to promote an ordinance which would restrict dangerous dog breeds such as pit bulls that are considered vicious. A vicious dog can be defined as one which commits three attacks within 12 months against either people or other pets, or attacks U.S. postal carriers.
If you or a loved one has sustained a dog bite from a vicious dog such as a pit bull, it can be a very traumatic experience. Contact the Waukesha dog bite lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2875 today.

accident Friday morning.
According to officials with the Wisconsin State Patrol, the
accident occurred near Mooreland Road and Interstate 94 west in Waukesha County
shortly after 3:30 a.m. Police say 21 year-old Lucas Loy crashed into a
Department of Transportation truck and then fled the scene. Lanes were shut

Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper Matt Barlar said that even
though this was an isolated incident and the driver is suspected to have been
impaired, the accident is a good reminder to drivers to stay alert when passing

Family Files Product Liability Lawsuit Over Contaminated Alcohol Wipes
Posted on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 at 5:45 am
A family in Washington state has filed a product liability
lawsuit against the manufacturers of Triad alcohol wipes.
According to court documents, Aaron and Tracey Massey claim
bacteria contained in Triad alcohol wipes and prep pads caused their son to
suffer brain damage after birth, resulting in a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. The
Massey’s son, Myles, contracted a Bacillus cereus bacterial infection ans
sustained severe brain damage that has left him unable to talk, walk or eat,
the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit was originally filed against Evergreen Hospital
Medical Center, where Myles was born, but the complaint was later amended to include
the makers of Triad alcohol prep pads, which were recently recalled due to
contamination.
The recalled prep pads and swabs were commonly used in
hospitals and packaged with numerous medications. They were also sold under a
variety of other labels at CVS and Walgreens.
