Former police officer accused and convicted of sexual assault

Posted on Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 at 7:27 pm

A former police officer of the Rhinelander Police Department has been convicted of third-degree sexual assault. This guilty verdict comes after a victim accused the 62-year-old of abusing her and then sexually assaulting her in her residence in May of 2010.

The jury determined that the retired police officer was also guilty of intimidating a witness as well as a victim and two counts of felony bail after considering the case for 15 hours.

The bail in the case has increased to $25,000 payable only in the form of cash. The sentencing will take place in January of 2012.
