Honda Motor Co. Ltd. expanded its recall of Honda and Acuravehicles over airbag defects Tuesday.
According to a company statement, the expanded recall adds833,000 vehicles sold in model years 2001-2003. The vehicles are being recalleddue to concerns that replacement airbags could deploy with too much pressure, causing injuries or fatalities.
The additional 833,000 vehicles were not included in earliersafety recalls because the original airbag modules on the driver’s side werenot affected by the issue. Honda said, however, replacement airbags couldcontain the defect.
The recall includes some 2001 and 2002 Accord and Civicsedans, 2002 Odyssey minivans and 2002 and 2003 CR-V crossover vehicles. Italso includes 2002 and 2003 Acura 3.2 TL and 2003 3.2 CL vehicles.
