A dump truck driver was injured Tuesday night in a Waukesha truck accident.
According to officials with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, a dump truck became stuck under an overpass in Pewaukee near Capitol Drive and County Highway F shortly after 10:00 p.m. Police say the dump truck was stuck underneath the bridge in the southbound lanes of the road, causing the road to be closed for more than four hours.
Police say the accident occurred because the dump box was left in the elevated position.
An off-duty officer observed the dump truck wedged under the overpass and all lanes of the road were immediately shut down. Engineers from the Department of Transportation were on the scene to assess damage to the bridge.
The driver of the truck was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is still investigating why the dump box was left in the upright position.
