Man Hurt in Waukesha Motorcycle Crash

A man was injured in a Waukesha motorcycle accident Saturday.

According to officials with the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Highway 88 just north of Laehn Ridge Road. Police say Darell H Banker, of Waukesha, missed a curve, flipped his motorcycle, and was then thrown from the bike.

A Mayo One helicopter was called to the scene of the crash, but Banker was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Authorities described his injuries as "non-life-threatening."

Buffalo County Sheriff's deputies say speed was a factor in the crash.

Citation Issued in Waukesha Co. Cyclist Fatality

Police have issued a citation to a Dousman man involved in a Waukesha car accident that killed a cyclist on Highway 18.

According to officials with the Summit Police Department, 20 year-old Samuel Weirick was ticketed for failing to provide a safe passing distance, which carries a fine of $114 and a possible three-point license deduction. Weirick may also face a one-year license suspension because the violation resulted in a death.

Police say Weirick was traveling eastbound on Highway 18 on Father's Day, about a half-mile east of Highway 67 when he struck and killed Brett Netke, a cyclist who was on a training ride.

According to Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel, a review of the accident reports found that criminal charges were not warranted. Schimel recommended the police ticket Weirick.

One Injured in Waukesha Car Accident

One person was injured in a rollover crash in the westbound lanes on Interstate 94 in Delafield.

According to officials with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, the single-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. Tuesday near Highway 83 outside of Waukesha. Police say one person was injured in the crash and transported by Flight for Life to an area hospital for treatment.

No information on the victim or the nature of the injuries has been released.

The westbound lanes of Interstate 94 were shut down for a few hours after the crash.

Motorcyclist Injured in Waukesha Co. Crash

A 31 year-old man from West Allis was injured Saturday in a crash on Interstate 94 in Waukesha County.

According to officials with the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m., in the westbound lanes of I-94, when a yellow SUV braked suddenly and crossed in front of a Lexus SUV to make an illegal U-turn. A statement by the State Patrol said two motorcyclists were traveling behind the Lexus, which was driven by a 43 year-old man from Fitchburg. The first motorcycle was able to maneuver around the SUV but the second collided with its left-rear quarter.

The motorcyclists name was not immediately available. The Wisconsin State Patrol also said the yellow SUV did not stop after the crash.
