Can car music lead to traffic accidents?

Posted on Friday, January 29th, 2010 at 6:12 am

Many people listen to music when they are behind the wheel. While music cannot directly lead to a car crashes, it can indirectly lead to automobile accidents.

Music has the effect of distracting drivers. Because drivers may focus some of their mental energy on they music, they will be unable to give their full attention to the road. This distraction may cause one driver to run into the rear end of another.

If you or anyone you know has been injured by a distracted driver, contact the Waukesha car accident attorneys of 800-2420-2874

Why should you hire a local personal injury attorney?

Posted on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 at 1:03 am

When individuals are involved in car accidents, they often must find an attorney for their personal injury case. In most cases, it is in the best interest of individuals to hire local attorneys.

Local attorneys have an advantage over other attorneys for a number of reasons. For instance, local attorneys are familiar with local and state personal injury laws, which could be essential in trial.

Also, local attorneys will be more readily available to gather local evidence from the scene of the accident and conduct interviews with local witnesses and officials.

What constitutes a hit-and-run accident?

Posted on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 at 12:53 am

When an accident occurs and vehicle flees the scene, this type of accident is often considered a hit-and-run accident. These accidents typically have serious legal implications because drivers who flee the scene are potentially at fault.

The definition of a hit-and-run accident, however, is not always clear cut. In some cases, a driver may believe that the accident did not cause any damage or injuries, and decide to leave the scene of the accident. If this occurs, then the other driver must show that the driver who caused the accident was trying to avoid fault for the accident.

What are the advantages of a mediation?

Posted on Monday, January 11th, 2010 at 6:01 am

Because both plaintiffs and defendants sometimes prefer to avoid a trial, they turn to a variety of non-trial options. One popular option that is available for most personal injury cases is a mediation.

Mediations occur when both the plaintiff and defendant meet with a mediator. The mediator is often a retired judge or lawyer with years of relevant legal experience. During the mediation, the mediator listens to each party's story and claim.

With the help of the mediator, both sides try to iron out an acceptable settlement agreement. If the two sides cannot reach a settlement, the case will likely go to trial. However, anything discussed during the mediation process cannot be used at trial.

Police task force targets drunk drivers over weekend

Posted on Monday, January 4th, 2010 at 6:23 am

A police task force last weekend arrested a number of people for drunk driving. According to police reports, the drunk driving task force was meant to curb the amount of drunk driving in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.

These task forces are often assembled as a way to reduce the risk that drunk drivers pose to other drivers. This risk is reduced by positioning police officers and other task force members at areas where drunk driving is likely to occur. These locations typically include areas near bars or sporting events.
