Posted on Monday, May 4th, 2009 at 6:16 am

Of the 700 to 800 bicyclists that will be killed this year, approximately 95% of them involve riders who were not wearing helmets. Wearing a helmet can significantly reduce the chance of brain injury and death.

Unfortunately, bike accidents happen all too often. In 2007, there were 43,000 cyclists reported injured in traffic collisions. Of those over 1,100 were from Wisconsin.
