Posted on Thursday, October 16th, 2008 at 3:10 am

France–French police have begun an investigation into the poisoning of a Russian human rights lawyer named Karinna Moskalenko. Though mercury has not been determined for sure to be the cause, it is believed that it could be.

Moskalenki began to feel certain symptoms associated with mercury poisoning, such as watery eyes and headaches. She believes that whatever the cause of her problems, they are meant to intimidate her from carrying out her work. Indeed, she has had to miss a court appearance.
