Milk Recall Leaves 53,000 Children Sick

Posted on Monday, September 22nd, 2008 at 8:09 am

The recall of Chinese dairy products has caused close to 53,000 Chinese children to become ill recently. According to reports, the milk was recalled after it was discovered that the industrial chemical, melamine, was found in the milk. This substance has been banned in China for some time. The Chinese government has promised to investigate the cause of this food safety issue and hold those responsible liable for any illness or injury that they might have caused.

A majority of the 12,892 children that have been hospitalized are 2 years old or younger. Sadly, 4 children have lost their lives and over 100 are in critical condition.

The Chinese Health Ministry has reported that the products in question are a form of powered milk, and a type of baby formula. One of the companies involved, the Shijiazhuang Sanlu Group Co., is at the center of investigations.

Ford Recalls Vehicles For Faulty Cruise Control

Posted on Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 at 4:09 pm

Ford has recently recalled around 5 millions vehicles for faulty cruise control switches. According to a U.S. regulatory agency, these faulty switches may potentially cause a fire at any time.

The recall includes Ford, Lincoln, and Mecury cars and trucks from the years of 1992 to 2004. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that this recall is a part of a previously announced recall to fix approximately 7 million vehicles.

The NHTSA warns that this is a very serious safety risk. Sixty people have reported fires caused by the cruise control switch form August through February of last year. The repair takes very little time and should be made immediately if your car or truck has been listed in the recall, which now covers 12 million vehicles.
