Slip and Fall Prompts Lawsuit Against Wal-Mart

Posted on Friday, May 30th, 2008 at 3:05 am

A Wal-Mart store and the Home City Ice Co. are being sued after a woman’s fall caused her to be seriously injured. Carolyn and John Case filed the suit on May 22nd, after Carolyn sustained serious injuries from falling on water that had puddled on the floor in front of an ice machine in the store.

The couple claims that the store was negligent for allowing water to remain on the floor and for failing to provide any kind of warning sign that would make customers aware of the dangerous floor conditions. They also claim that the position inwhich the ice machine was placed was inappropriate and made the situation all the more dangerous for customers.

The couple claims that Wal-Mart and the Home City Ice Co. are liable for Carolyn’s injury since they allowed the floor to become dangerously wet. Carolyn suffered several serious injuries, however, the suit does not list them in any detail. John Case, her husband, claims to have lost the companionship, affection, and consortium of his wife.

$6M Sought in Jeep Rollover Case

Posted on Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 at 3:05 am

SUVs have a much higher rollover rate than any other type of car thanks to their higher center of gravity. Manufacturers are responsible for producing SUVs that have a low roll over rate, in order to keep consumers safe from serious injuries. When manufacturers fail to create vehicles that are safe to drive, it is almost inevitable that the driver or passengers of the vehicle will experience painful injuries in the event of a collision.

Ashlee Hoffman was driving her mother’s Jeep Liberty when she unexpectedly swerved into the right lane, causing the vehicle to roll over end to end. Eventually, the car lost momentum and came to rest in the middle of an intersection. Hoffman claims that it was the separation of the ball joint in the front suspension that caused her accident.

During the collision, Hoffman was ejected from the car and had to be rushed to the nearby hospital via helicopter. She suffered serious injuries and placed in a medically induced coma as the doctors had to performed several surgeries.

She is seeking damages for her medical bills, lost wages, loss of potential earnings, and pain and suffering.

YMCA Faces Lawsuit

Posted on Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at 8:05 am

Rhonda Hughes has filed a personal injury lawsuit against a YMCA after she fell while roller skating. Hughes is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 after falling when out-of-control skaters crashed into her and caused her to fall. Hughes claims that the YMCA is responsible for monitoring the rink and should have done a better job of controlling the rowdy skaters.

Hughes claims that she sustained a fracture in her ankle due to being pushed by the unruly skaters. She is suing for medical expenses, disability, and pain and suffering. She also claims that the knee injury she also sustained has caused her permanent injury.
